How to prepare the ástarpungar

Ingredients

4 cups of wheat flour

1 cup of sugar

4 teaspoons of yeast

2 eggs

1 ½ cup of milk

Raisins

Essence of Vanilla

 

Mix the flour with sugar, yeast and raisins; then add the eggs, the milk and the essence of vanilla.

Knead the mixture and then make small balls using two teaspoons. Fry the balls in warm (not hot) vegetable oil. When the pancakes will have a brown colour, take them out of the oil and lay them on blotting paper.

You may serve them very hot or cold, and you may spray them with powder sugar.
