Posted on April 12, 2009 by

In Iceland there are many kind of sweets and all very good. Besides the recipes they inherited from the Danish rule, you can taste:

  • Skyr: food similar to the yoghurt, resulted from the fermentation of pasteurized screamed milk; it is usually flavoured with blueberries and sweetened by sugar and cream.
  • Pönnukökur: thin pancakes flavoured with cinnamon
  • Kleinur: fried doughnuts
  • Ástarpungur (love ball): soft doughnuts, round shake
  • Waffel: Anglo-Saxon sweets, similar to crepe, stuffed with jam, honey, chocolate.
